The next release of Paycycle – soon to be Xero Payroll in Australia – is coming along really nicely.

Judging by the progress over the last few weeks we’ll be able to announce a release date very shortly. As we’ve discussed previously, the focus for this release has been to retire our Silverlight based application and replace it with a new fancy HTML front end.

We want to reinforce that the actual process you are used to will not change: you'll still be able to do exactly what you are doing today, and almost exactly in the same way (Settings will be Settings, Employees will be Employees, etc...)

To give you an idea of how the new interface will look, we’ve put together this quick video:

As you can see, Paycycle has been "xerofied", and we think it looks very very sexy, clean and  hip. And yes, we are still talking about payroll.

Regarding pricing, we know that some of you are anxious about what will happen once Paycycle officially becomes Xero Payroll in 2012.

While we give the final touches to the transition program, we'll be getting in touch with each and every one of you guys who don't use Xero in the next couple of weeks to let you know exactly what impact it will have, what the alternatives will be, etc. As a spoiler, let me tell you: you should be able to finish this financial year with no hiccups. Bare with us just a little bit longer, we promise we are doing everything we can to make sure you are all happy with how this new phase goes about.

As usual, we would love to hear what you think about the new looks and any other questions you might have.

    Looks fantastic, can't wait.

Looking forward to public holiday support, and maybe partial sick/leave days? I assume once this rolls out, the feature development will get some love :)

@Adam - Yes, after we are "embedded" in Xero, we'll get back to bringing all the goodies... ;-) So vote and/or add your "love requests" into our feature request forum so we know where to begin! ;-)

Partial leave is already "sort" of available.  When an employee applies for leave, they select the date and then in comments they can specify if they are taking a full day, half a day, or whichever amount of hours. Then when you approve in the main application, you can select the amount of units (usually hours) taken.

Thanks for your support, and stay tuned for more news!

    Cheers,
    ^AE.

Any idea if/when Paycycle will become available for UK businesses?

I was just sending an email regarding our policy on half days, thought I'd check here again :) That's a good enough solution for now!

    Cheers :)

@Scott - Thanks for your enquiry.
After the acquisition, Paycycle dropped plans of releasing an UK version of the system and has focused exclusively on developing integrated payroll for Xero.
The first stage being the HTML version of Paycycle, so that early next year the transition to an embedded Xero payroll solution is seamless.
Hence, for the moment, all payroll developments within Xero are focused solely for the Australian market.
We’ll get through Australia first! And then see what next year shapes up like.
